Dr. Anand N. Malaviya is one of India's most distinguished rheumatologists and clinical immunologists, with a career spanning over five decades. A pioneer who founded the Division of Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, Dr. Malaviya has played a foundational role in establishing rheumatology as a specialized discipline in India. His groundbreaking discovery of low-dose methotrexate therapy for autoimmune diseases, published in The Lancet in 1968, has had a lasting global impact on the treatment of rheumatic conditions. With an extraordinary academic record that includes fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians (London), the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Rheumatology, Dr. Malaviya brings unparalleled expertise to the management of complex autoimmune and connective tissue disorders. He has published over 500 research papers, contributed to 50+ book chapters and 2 books, and has mentored over 60 clinical immunologists and rheumatologists worldwide. Currently practicing at the A&R Clinic for Arthritis and Rheumatism in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, he continues to serve patients with the same dedication that earned him a Lifetime Achievement Award from AIIMS in 2025.
