Dr. Balasubramoniam K R is a highly accomplished Consultant Robotic, Minimally Invasive Thoracic and Lung Transplant Surgeon with over two decades of experience in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery. Currently practicing at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, he is a pioneer in minimally invasive thoracic surgery in India, having established three Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery Units across the country and performed more than 1,500 Video Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) procedures and over 200 Robotic Thoracic procedures using the Da Vinci Si and Xi robotic platforms. Dr. Balasubramoniam is a recognized leader in lung transplantation, having performed more than 35 lung transplants. He notably served as Lead Thoracic Surgeon in the multidisciplinary team that performed India's first Tracheal Allotransplant using an Autologous Prefabricated Tracheal Flap. He currently serves as Director of the Minimally Invasive Thoracic Program at all units of Yashoda Hospitals and leads their Lung Transplant Program. He also coordinates the first IACTS-accredited VATS Training Program in the country since 2022, reflecting his deep commitment to advancing surgical education and innovation. His international training spans institutions in China, France, the USA, Austria, and Singapore, ensuring patients receive care informed by the most advanced global standards.
