Dr. Giriraj Bora is a highly accomplished surgeon and one of India's leading experts in liver transplantation, hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) surgery, and gastrointestinal surgery. Serving as Chairperson – Liver Transplant & Senior Consultant in GI & HPB Surgery at Artemis Hospital, Gurugram, he brings extensive experience with over 2,000 liver transplants performed, including both living donor and deceased donor procedures. A founding member of the Liver Transplant Society of India, Dr. Bora is widely regarded as one of the top liver transplant surgeons in the Delhi NCR region.
Dr. Bora has played a transformative role in advancing liver transplantation across India. He performed the first-ever liver transplant in Rajasthan — including both the first living donor and first deceased donor liver transplants in the state — a milestone for which he was felicitated by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Since joining Artemis Hospital in 2016, he has been instrumental in developing one of the country's most advanced liver units, which is the only unit in India performing pure laparoscopic and pure robotic liver donor surgeries. The department serves patients from over 20 countries and has achieved global recognition for performing complex grafts, including right posterior and mono-segment liver grafts — a surgical feat accomplished by only a few liver units worldwide.
