Dr. Ramneek Mahajan is a highly accomplished orthopaedic surgeon and joint replacement specialist with over 26 years of experience in handling orthopaedic and joint replacement procedures. Currently serving as Senior Director – Orthopaedics & Head of Joint Reconstruction (Hip & Knee) at Max Smart Super Speciality Hospital, Saket, New Delhi, he is widely recognized as a pioneer in robotic joint replacement surgery in India. Dr. Mahajan's clinical expertise spans robotic knee replacements, robotic hip replacements, robotic partial knee replacements, and computer navigation-based joint replacement surgeries. He has performed over 18,000 joint replacement surgeries to his credit, including more than 1,500 robotic joint replacements and over 36,000 other orthopaedic surgeries. He is one of the pioneers in adopting computer navigation technology in orthopaedic surgery as early as 2011, and was the first doctor in India to use the Triathlon Knee Replacement System and the Insignia Hip Replacement System. Dr. Mahajan is also celebrated for pioneering early recovery protocols using the ERP (Enhanced Recovery Pathway), which involves short hospital stays, same-day mobilization, no external sutures or staples, advanced pain management protocols, and the use of USFDA-approved implants and smart robotics from the USA. He is an invited faculty member at most national and international arthropology meetings.
