Dr. M. C. Uthappa is a highly accomplished Consultant Interventional Radiologist with over 30 years of clinical experience spanning both the United Kingdom and India. He holds prestigious qualifications including FRCS (Glasgow, UK), FRCR (London, UK), and a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology from Oxford, UK, along with CCST (UK) certification. With an extraordinary track record of over 21,500 interventional radiology cases, Dr. Uthappa is recognized as one of the foremost experts in minimally invasive image-guided procedures for liver cancer, vascular disorders, and a wide spectrum of interventional oncology treatments. Dr. Uthappa currently serves as the Director of Interventional Radiology and Interventional Oncology at the Gleneagles Interventional Radiology Institute (GIRI), Gleneagles Hospitals, Richmond Road, Bengaluru. His career includes notable positions in the UK, where he was appointed Consultant at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in 2003 and established a dedicated department of Interventional Radiology. He also trained with the Interventional Radiology team at John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals, Oxford, and served as an advisor for Interventional Radiology to NICE, UK, from 2007 to 2010. With an extensive research portfolio comprising more than 45 publications and scientific articles, along with numerous presentations at national and international meetings, Dr. Uthappa brings both clinical excellence and academic rigor to patient care. He was among the first to introduce Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) for BPH patients in India and has pioneered a dedicated thyroid ablation program, successfully completing the first 100 cases of RFA for thyroid nodules in India.
