The Max Healthcare Story
The broader Max corporate journey began in 1985 with the establishment of Max India Limited. The healthcare network took operational form in 2000 and grew from outpatient and secondary-care services into a multi-speciality system managing advanced tertiary and quaternary conditions — becoming, through the amalgamation with Radiant Life Care, one of India’s largest integrated healthcare organisations.
Max India Limited was established, creating the wider corporate foundation from which the healthcare network later developed.
Max Medcentre, Panchsheel Park opened with outpatient consultation and day-care surgery services — the operational beginning of the Max healthcare-delivery network.
Hospital services expanded into secondary care, mother and child care, cardiology, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, nephrology and ENT — along with the network’s first ISO hospital certification.
Super-tertiary cardiac capabilities strengthened, with advanced cardiac life-support ambulances and air-evacuation services joining the emergency-care system.
A large multispeciality and super-speciality tertiary-care facility broadened services across oncology, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, organ transplantation and intensive care.
The network expanded its super-speciality presence and added significant hospital capacity across northern India, reaching Uttarakhand the following year.
The Max Institute of Cancer Care established an additional dedicated cancer day-care facility, strengthening medical oncology and outpatient cancer treatment.
Max Super Speciality Hospital, Saket received Joint Commission International accreditation.
Max Healthcare Institute Limited was listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange following the amalgamation of Radiant Life Care and the erstwhile Max Healthcare organisation.
A dedicated oncology block and additional hospitals in central and northern India were integrated into the network.
Max launched its first asset-light, built-to-suit greenfield hospital and added capacity through the acquisition of Jaypee Healthcare, with further agreements supporting brownfield expansion.
Current developments include new brownfield towers, hospital projects, expansion of existing facilities and the acquisition of a controlling stake in a 250-bed hospital in Bhubaneswar.
