Fortis Healthcare’s journey is rooted in the vision of the late Dr. Parvinder Singh, Founder Chairman of Fortis Healthcare Limited — to create a world-class integrated healthcare delivery system in India combining advanced medical capabilities with compassionate patient care.
Fortis Healthcare Limited was incorporated to establish, manage and operate a chain of multi-speciality hospitals.
Commercial operations began with the Fortis Heart Institute and Multi-speciality Hospital in Mohali — the foundation of the Fortis network and its expansion into advanced cardiac care, tertiary medicine and multi-speciality services.
Fortis completed its initial public offering and became listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange in May 2007.
IHH Healthcare Berhad became the controlling shareholder of Fortis Healthcare through a preferential equity allotment — strengthening Fortis with access to a broader international healthcare platform, clinical knowledge and institutional expertise.
Fortis introduced South Asia’s first Gamma Knife Esprit system for highly precise, non-invasive treatment of selected brain tumours, vascular malformations and functional neurological disorders — sub-millimetre targeting accuracy without a conventional surgical incision.
The cancer programme grew through advanced medical oncology, surgical oncology, radiation oncology, robotic surgery, molecular diagnostics, CAR-T cell therapy and HIPEC surgery.
